Practical Physics and Summer Revision sessions 2018

As in previous years, the start of January means that our Summer Revision sessions for this year are now open for booking.
Practical Skills in Physics
For the first time this year, we’re also offering a session in January on Practical Skills in Physics, which we hope you will find useful.
The practical physics revision session is designed for students taking higher tier GCSE and A-level Physics, and will take place at 9am on 21st January. To book your place, and to download the preparatory material for this session, head directly to the practical physics booking page.
Summer 2018 sessions
Booking for all of the summer revision sessions can be found on the main revision session booking page.
As in previous years, all our sessions feature an “early bird” discount of £10 if booked before Saturday 3 March, and £5 if booked before Saturday 14 April, so it’s in your interest to book early.

Continued partnership
We will be once again continuing our room booking partnership with Bowburn Community Association, who will be hosting all of our revision sessions.   The centre is easily accessible by car (with a large free car park) or bus (the regular X12 Newcastle – Middlesbrough bus stops directly outside).
So, what sessions are available?
This year, we are focusing sessions on our core topic areas of Maths and Physics, with sessions two days and four days before the majority of papers.

As in previous years, the A-level Maths exam timetable is not helpful for this, as each exam board is holding some of their exams on different days, so if you are an A-level Maths student please check extra carefully prior to booking to ensure that you are booking the most suitable session for you!

Winter 2017 – 2018

During the winter, we often get snow and extremely poor weather in County Durham, which can obviously have an effect on sessions.
Whilst we try to run all sessions as scheduled, there may obviously be some short-notice changes.  These will be communicated both on a case-by-case basis, as well as being posted to our Facebook page, facebook.com/mallarddays – please follow this page now for the latest updates.
If major changes occur, a banner showing a snowflake will also be placed on the front page of this website, giving details of any changes.
In the case of prolonged or expected poor weather, the following actions may be taken:

sessions relocated to either Gilesgate (Durham) or Bowburn Community Association (Bowburn)
sessions rescheduled to times with expected lower weather impact
sessions cancelled (note: this has never happened so far!)

Please note that if you cancel a session due to poor weather, the session fee will not be refunded.  Rescheduling is therefore highly recommended to effectively support your studies!

It’s booking week!

For those of you who have regular sessions, booking for sessions in November will happen in the next week. Please remember to make sure that your bookings are in the diary at your next session.
Booking for future months opens as follows:

December 2017: 14 November
January 2018: 12 December
Summer workshops 2018: 3 January
February 2018: 16 January
March 2018: 13 February
April 2018: 13 March

Those of you who book irregular sessions, or want additional sessions, please check my availability page about a week after the above dates to see what sessions are available.

Welcome to the 2017-18 Academic Year

Welcome to the 2017-18 academic year!
We are now 8 months away from the start exams next May (sounds quite a while, but it really isn’t!), so it’s time to start working hard again and prepare ourselves for the next year.  All our current students have now been timetabled, and so bookings are now open for new students in the limited slots we have left.  Please see the availability page if you wish to check what is available.
Building on past success
The last academic year bought a lot of success for our students, in particular those sitting GCSEs.  Two of notable mention scored extremely high marks – much above their school predicted grades (in one case 3 whole grades above!).  Hopefully this trend can continue into future years.
As always, don’t hesitate to get in touch if you wish to make a booking for tuition, revision questions or if you have any questions or queries: you can find our details on the Contact Details page.
